🧵 Why Do Seams Suddenly Pucker Even When Everything Is Done Correctly?

A question from a reader – and a very familiar situation.

Sometimes you sit down to sew… everything seems to be going well…
and suddenly – a crease.

The one that immediately ruins your mood 😅

Why does this happen?

📏 Most often, it’s a matter of the block sizes.

One is slightly larger, the other slightly smaller.

One stretches, the other resists—and there you have it, that little fold in the seam.

✂️ What can be done?

🔹 Blocks with character—we’ll persuade you

to tighten them slightly, pin them carefully, and iron them.

But don’t overdo it—especially with steam.

🔹 Trim, but carefully.

Sometimes a very small adjustment can help.

The main thing is not to get carried away and “eat” too much.

🔹 The crease… as a technique

Sometimes it’s unavoidable.

Then it’s best to place it where the colors meet—
it’s almost invisible there.

And now, this is no longer a mistake, but a small design move 😉

💛 Unravel or leave?

If it doesn’t give you peace, of course, rip it open.

But if you are one of those who love living things with character,
you can keep it.

With added stitching, volume and a little time,
this fold will simply dissolve into the overall work.

How are you? Do these moments irritate you more, or have you learned to deal with them calmly? 😊
